    Default Origins 2013 - Saturday 10am

    For the second demo game I went back to the same ship I had in the first. While waiting for the other players to arrive, I said something in an off-hand way to the frigate captains sitting across from me, along the lines of "the guys who played last time were decimated when they sailed right toward our 3rd rates."





    Suffice to say, when the game started they both turned hard to port in order to open the gap between us.





    I was, however, able to catch the windward most frigate. He had been moving his ship wrong (I didn't notice until I was within range), and I don't know that I would have been able to catch him otherwise. For a little frigate, he really tore into me. Pulling high-numbered chits does make a difference.

    (Oh, most of this set of pics is from my phone so the detail isn't as nice.)

    I was able to cross in front of him, and being at musket range, I really did a number on his crew.

    After moving off, I was still within long range.




    Even though I was still drawing really low damage chits (lots of zeroes) I did enough to him to finish off his crew.




    And then I came around to the other side of an island and realized there wasn't time to catch the rest of the battle, so I dropped anchor and sliced the main brace.

    So it's more easy do decimate a crew then wrecking the ship?

    Hi Sven,
    In the game I played some of the chits have "crew damage" on them as will as ship damage. So as I see it, it is luck. Unless when in musket range you get different damage chits for musket damage on crew in this range? We did not use musket range in the game David set up at for us at Gosport. I thought you just got more damage chits the closer you got? Liked your report Blackjohn.
