Sadaharu's Trafalgar Fleet

While looking for as many 1/1200 blog posts and pictures on the web as I could, I came across this from Sadaharu Ichikawa. I searched and did not find this link on our site so check it out, as well as his other work. Pretty impressive.

Very impressive! I'm not a big fan of the big ship fleet actions but I would have to give something looking that good a try.

Wow! It could be a re-enactment rather than being gamed, looks like situational photos at various times in the battle but truly impressive. When you see all the ships of the two fleets set up you realise just how much the nations had invested in the battle. Great posting and not a site I was familiar with.

While Sada appears to be focused on land based Napoleonic's at this point. I went even further back on his blog and found that his group also did the Battle of the Nile using Wooden Ships and Iron Men, advanced rules.

Seems he did Trafalgar in 2011 and 2012, the first with 6 players over 8 hours using all Langton's ships. He doesn't mention rules system but it might be WSIM. He's a very good painter, some of those 28mm Napoleonics are masterful.

I bought a bunch of the same type (with the studded sails as you describe ) from Langton some years back. Their part # for the 74's was 74-SSL and the same -SSL for the S.F. & 64's, in white metal but the packages had Discontinued Stock stickers on them. You might want to call Rod to see if he has any left.

Incredible workmanship. I cannot imagine doing all that rigging and the thread he's using appears to be especially fine? I wonder if it might be silk or some type of monofilament?

Hi Ed,
Over the years Rod has moved on. He no longer makes Full sail, Studding sail and Full Complement (the first two as one) in metal. The rest he makes in both medal and brass. You must of got some of the last ones made in medal. I have two ships with the old metal Full sails with the Stay sails on the back of the Fore and main mast.
