On the 14th of May 1814, Argentine and Spanish ships began a four-day engagement known as the Battle of Buceo. This battle was part of the Argentine War of Independence. The Argentine fleet was under the command of William Brown, and Admiral Sienna commanded the Spanish ships. The two forces fought off the coast of Uruguay at Montevideo. Having drawn the Spanish fleet away from port and the protection of shore guns, Brown led the Argentine fleet to a decisive victory, either destroying or capturing the bulk of Sienna's ships. The surviving Spanish vessels subsequently surrendered as well.

William Brown is one of the forgotten heroes from Argentina, the war against Portugal and Brazil. Brown is usually overseen because he fought when Rosas (an Argentinian president/dictator) was in charge. But he never fought in the civil war.
If one day I have time, I will translate his feats of war.
