I predict a rapid rise for our loquacious Lieutenant... especially since the primary path to promotion is being a big enough bag of wind to singlehandedly drive HMS Victory at frigate-like speeds. :P

    Congrats, amigo!

Well, nice to see someone noticed -- because *I* sure didn't. :)

Thanks, all. I still need to see about getting my flag put together....

Maybe some of our newer members skilled in computer graphics can whip out something. Here's the prior post (scroll down a ways) with what was wanted:

Almost perfect -- just a couple points:

    1) The shark-jaw motif I was thinking of is more "a pair of arcs, with triangles along the inner sides". Bearing in mind most pirates were not artists, such things were generally abstracted.

    2) I recall I had the tip of the sword and the barrel of the pistol pointing up, not down; can't remember if I specified that, or not.

    Other than that: Perfect.

Almost perfect -- the triangles should be blended with the arcs, as if they were cut from a single piece of cloth (as indeed they probably will be, when I have the real thing made -- oh, did I say that out loud? ;) ).

    Thanks for your kind words.

Illustrator and other related vector graphics packages are kind of at the fringe of my software domain, but if you had anything specific in mind I would be glad to help if I can.

I have illustrator to make figures for journal manuscripts. They require a high res figure for print publications. What I do with it is so basic, it's almost laughable. Case in point I made my avatars with illustrator. That's the extent of my skill with the program.

You may want to print/copy down these directions or open a duplicate browser window before starting this as to complete the process you will be navigating away from this page.

    Step 1:
Right click on the small avatar picture above and select
    Save Picture As
Save it to a location on your machine where you can find it.

    Step 2:
From this page, Open the Forun Actions menu at the top left of the page (right under blogs) and select
    Edit Profile

    Step 3:
On the left hand side of the page Under My Settings, select:
    Edit Avatar

    Step 4:
In the Edit Avatar section, select:
Option 2 - Upload an image from your computer

    Step 5:
Click the Browse button at the right end of that section and find the image that you saved in step 1

Well, I do know how a 2nd Lieutenant is supposed to take an objective:

    "Sergeant, take that objective!"

(No smilies, as *that's actually how it's supposed to work*.)

And, as y'all can see: IT'S ALIVE....

    Bruce: Again, my thanks.

Guess I'd better make my next acquisition one of the Sane-designed first rates that handled almost like frigates despite their size... a 50+-gun broadside should warrant some respect. Fired as a salute or in combat, up to you, amigo... :P :D LOL

Well, you live up here, too -- I figure we're on the same side (as much as any who sail under the Black Flag can be). :)
