The play area alone is a huge limiting factor for certain styles of play. I cannot foresee SOG ships working with the current ePawn mats, as they'd have no room to tack/turn.
Meh, I'll stick to my lovely miniatures!
Deviating further from the "wargaming" topic (which I'm happy to chew over as well!), but has anyone here played Dungeon World? IT'S AMAZING! Low overhead, collaborative world building, minimal...
Might also want to take a gander at Labyrinth Lord, a BX/AD&D 1E clone published under the Open Game License. It's as old school as you're gonna get, aside from the OE "white box" pamphlets. Things I...
I have a painted plaster statue of Rex on the desk in my office :)
Games like EastFront or Combat Commander, or other games with activated ZOC (zones of control) are interesting as you are made to juggle the push/pull of enabling Headquarter blocks or Leader...

To be honest, this is what keeps bringing me back time and again — the lovely library is just an added bonus!
The photo above shows my wife and our pup, however a more recent picture would feature a much more crowded mantle, and stacks of books flanking either side of the room, along with more and more stuff...
As a professional librarian, how could I not?

FYI: I just learned that ALL of the Total War games are on sale (and even free to play!) on Steam through June 28th-29th. I just scored the complete Napoleon TW game for about $7 and change. Can't...
I'm also looking for good AoS games for Mac — however I see now that Napoleon Total War is available for the Mac OS, so there's that at least. Anyone play this game? The video below looks kind of...
As errata goes, this is borderline insignificant. I'm still nonetheless impresses with Ares' ability to release so much material with so few mistakes. If the inversion of two minor icons is the worst...
... with all of us stuffed into the hull of the Constitution, we have enough that we could probably crew the whole ship!
Just give me some fat merchant ships to plunk down into the fray as part of an escort. I know most people wouldn't want to shell out money for a lame duck model, but a historically accurate merchant...
The other immediate advantage, that no one else seemed to mention, is that using wooden cubes to mark filled boxes on the ship's log would help players cycle "pulled" chits back into the draw...
Now THAT is a thing of beauty!
Just a nice set of Philips speakers, a decent subwoofer, and a Yamaha receiver :singin:
To fully appreciate Master & Commander, one must watch the film using a full-bodied 5.1/7.1 surround sound home theater. The creaking and groaning of the ship, each broadside, every taught rope was...

Woah! I love radio dramas! Great find — thanks for sharing :salute:
Captain, permission to issue the men an extra rum ration, with a wedge of lime?
Huzzah!
Question for the sake of clarity — As of this post, the Captain level nets you:
• 4 Exclusive KS-only ship packs
• 1 starter set (4 ships, counters, etc)
• 8 non-exclusive ship packs
•...
