In a couple of places they say "hitting the stores in November"--maybe that's parsing the words too closely, but Ares seems to try to control the release date pretty firmly, so I read this as when...

In a couple of places they say "hitting the stores in November"--maybe that's parsing the words too closely, but Ares seems to try to control the release date pretty firmly, so I read this as when...
So I was pretty close? :drinks:
As I continue to wait for wave 3... I broke out the LEGOs again to build a little friend for HMS Enterprize to play with:
Massachusetts privateer Oliver Cromwell :salute:
She's a topsail-cutter...
Yes that is true. In the mega battles we've played at "Enfilade!" conference the last few years, as long as a fleet is still sailing in formation, then everyone uses backing sails (aka "line of...
Yeah, I noticed on their website that the WGF wave was pretty recently announced.
So, if WGS was in mid-June and WGF in end-August, then maybe SGN will come in early-November?
Combining light ships with the SOLs can be tricky. If the enemy SOLs are distracted, then the frigates will sometimes have a chance to shine. But going straight up its a pretty unfair fight
Also...
Yes that is better--their rule seems to have only been thinking about frigates
Well, it does give a bonus to short-range, but the bonus is spread out across multiple turns by not requiring reloading. I was surprised they did it that way though...
Anyone notice this new offering from Ares? Good to get some attention again
"Two historical scenarios to be played using the ships HMS Victory and USS Constitution, featured in the Sails of Glory...
I wonder if the moderator queue is getting checked? (is this a plea for moderation? :takecover:)
I posted something to the Sale/Trade forum a few weeks ago and it still seems to be waiting for...
The game organizer, Walram, has developed a pretty incredible support system for these battles. He had custom-made ship-mats which were smaller, to help space management. All the ship-mats,...
Thanks all! I will try reposting over at BGG, and feel free to link/repost elsewhere if you wish
Historical reasons I think. Basically that is what the French/Spanish did: try to maintain a...
My AAR is posted here: http://sailsofglory.org/showthread.php?4121-Trafalgar-2016-The-View-from-Villenueve
Here's my take on the Trafalgar battle fought at the Enfilade! convention on 5/29, organized by Walram.
One of the fun things about these battles is that they are so big that nobody really has the...
Yes as I understand the plan it will be like Glorious First (http://sailsofglory.org/showthread.php?3311-Glorious-First-of-June-was-a-great-success!) but with some more gamemats at the side where the...
yes we were really hoping Wave 3 would be ready in time, but its been pretty clear since the fall that it wasn't going to happen. I haven't looked carefully at the rosters Dave has made up, but I...
Dunno, I guess that's my question since I've never seen a duel pack :bleh:
Presumably, though, if the idea was otherwise deemed good, it would not have to conform *precisely* to that limit

How much would the rules need to be reduced? Right now the basic/intermediate/advanced only takes half the rulebook. The rest is optional rules and scenarios.
Not only that, now there's this...
Bonhomme Richard was a converted East Indiaman, if I recall correctly, so I think the idea is to use that model to also do some generic indiaman merchant ships
On BoardGameGeek some time back they outlined wave 4 as such:
Hi all,
one of my HMS Terpsichores got trodden on, and I'm interested in replacing her. But I'd prefer not to buy a whole new starter. Anyone have an extra they'd like to sell?
I'm located in...
Yes that is exactly why there is that orange zone at the stern of the base.
They do allude to this a bit on page 9, without being totally clear. The orange range on the side is "beating" and on...
I used Bodoni MT Condensed (which was already installed on my version of Windows/Word), and bolded it manually, and I was happy enough with the match
Very true.
It's hard for me to go back and read about battles and even understand/quantify what it took for a commander to conclude that his ship could "fight no more." Usually a ship didn't come...
When they got the painting proofs on their desks in April, my mind calculated October/November to be able buy something. Christmas present for self?
Probably when they come back from their summer...
