Excellent conversion! She really looks fantastic. If you were to do another one would you go with the Victory again or another 1st rate?
She would have one hell of a broadside with all 32...
I have a 2nd Constitution sitting and looking at me as well, she will likely be the United States and I haven't decided how I will attempt the stern modifications as there is scant detail on how that...
I have not read this one, but (and this is probably my only negative remark about any book on the age of sail) Gardiner's book 'American Heavy Frigates' (an Osprey book to be fair) is full of poorly...
This is the Holy Grail of fighting age of sail history books for me, even though it covers only the War of 1812, it has no peers. If you want something to listen to while you do SOG miniatures, this...
I'm listening to this one for the 2rd time on Audible, it cannot be over recommended. Only the Naval War of 1812 by Roosevelt rates higher for me in must read status.
This is a great book and it is wonderfully done on Audible, the narrator is excellent.
Odd, it was there last night and today? It fit the size parameters, was a jpeg. I will try another one.
Some really good ideas here, I've been using the home rule of:
1. Having to use two crew actions for sails the entire time you are in the red and one for the first turn upon coming out. This...
I've been looking at the 74 gun and 1st rate cards posted on the site, looking for a pattern or system of assigning musket firepower, cannon firepower etc and it seems to actually be accurate enough....
These are so cool, just now finding all these threads on US ships. I must ask what did you use for the Pennsylvania?
Thank you, I certainly have the conversion bug now.
Coog, your excellent work here http://www.sailsofglory.org/showthread.php?2585-The-United-States-Navy-1797 has given me a long term plan. Also...
Such a great thread and great work on determining the most suitable models to convert and on the ship cards!
I have just ordered 3 more ships to convert to American frigates so the Constitution...
Following the excellent tutorials from several of you here are the first ships I have done. I have since put small painted dots on the sides of the motion bases for the wind indicators as each ship...
I'm happy with the current brass myself, but will take stainless if they are made. I'm good for 5 ships worth as I have a French 74 done and waiting on ratlines in Toulon, the Royal George sitting in...
This is holding me up as well, I don't even care to match up the ratlines exactly, I'd just be happy with some more of the 74 size in general.
I'd only shortly received the Constitution pack before I had to box it back up as we'd just purchased a new home and were moving.
I've spent the last few days getting my hobby table all set up and...
Wow that is exactly what I want to do. Where did you get the battle sails and what process did you use on the masts, what did you use for the masts? I broke a foremast off a 74 at the deck and...
I'm in the process of buying a house and it has a fantastic wooden workbench in the garage, I cannot wait to get it all setup to get back into miniatures and models, once I do that there will be tons...
Nice, it just looks like your camera or phone, whichever you used, is focusing on the items in the rear, instead of the foreground, so just focusing on the foreground would make these pics fantastic....
I have only played the game a few times and when I glanced over these numbers I muddled the 'burden' with the firepower numbers, apologies.
It has got me thinking however about some optional...
Thank you all for the responses and links! Looks like just the ideas I needed :)
Thanks for the tutorial and those pics look great, any close ups of those perhaps? Never even thought about a wash....
So please merge this with an existing appropriate thread if I've missed it, but I'd like to discuss the sails and what others feel about them and what, if any modifications are popular.
I've seen...
There was nothing structurally different about the hull between the two year models. This is odd, 1798 should be of the 464 variety as well. White Oak planks over Live Oak frame timbers (without...
Thanks for the info, order made, actually used coolstuff as it was 5$ cheaper time shipping and all was added and they allowed use of a credit card, aerodrome is paypal only (which I have but boy...
Loud noises!
So I haven't pre-ordered, where should one preorder from? Aerodrome? I think I need 2 USS Constitutions so I can make a USS United States
