An Interesting Maritime Building
On Thursday, Suzanne and I had to go into Baltimore for me to take two exams for an upgrade to my captain's license. The Coast Coastguard's offices are in the old Customs house, built around the turn of the last century.
While I attended to the exams, Suzanne waited and met various friendly folks who talked to her about the building. A security guard showed her a portion of the building that is not usually accessible, and later shared it with me during my break.
This is the ceiling:

It was kind of strange, the building isn't really open to the public, but they had these history boards to tell you about the place.

A special thanks to the security guard for sharing a treasure hidden in plain view!
P.S. Apparently the artist who painted all that was treated to a European vacation afterwards, including a ride home on the newest, most modern ocean liner in the world, leaving Southampton April 10, 1912.
Needless to say, the value of his artwork increased later that week.
