Here's a little something I found exploring a remote island, Cumberland Island, Georgia.

It's called reindeer moss. I think you can find it in craft stores. I thought it might work well for branches on trees instead of just using clumps of green fluff.

I have used it for 25 mm scale trees for many years. You can find it in different colours, but to my eyes I think it is out of scale for anything under about 15 mm which is the reason I use the flock.
However, in the picture yours looks much finer than the stuff I get. It will be interesting to see how it comes out when compared to your buildings and ships.

I use it as bushes for 25mm or wooded areas for 15mm.
If you pick it yourself, it’ll become very brittle when dry.
