C. S. Forester is best known for his naval fiction, particularly the Horatio Hornblower series, but this book is a nice non-fiction account of the Naval War of 1812. The book is all text without any illustrations and does not provide detailed information on ships. If that is what you want, you will do better to get one of the other books on the subject. However, the book is great at giving an overview of the war and is well written and enjoyable to read.
