The British frigates have a burden of 2, and the French burden is 3. Does this mean that the French have a huge advantage where just 2 points fill a British damage box and it takes 3 points to do that to a French frigate?

Since the British Amazon frigates were approximately the same tonnage as the French Concordes, I bumped my British frigates up to Burden 3. I also switched the Maneuver Decks between the two classes to make the French frigates faster, since they're longer.
Using the same miniatures, I now use Burden 2 with C decks and weaker broadsides to represent post ships or corvettes.
Thank you Dobbs that confirms my thinking. I will do the same.
In fact, Gary, here's a further modification I made that seems to work well:
Oh, the number subtracted is from any numbers represented on the drawn chits, not from the total number of chits drawn.

This makes small ship engagements much more playable.
So many good rules mods from Dobbs.
Dobbs usually comes up with the goods Jason.
Rob.
Ares said they did it deliberately, but I think it's wrong--unless we treat the Concordes as 36's rather than 32's.
Here's some noodling I've done... per Ares the long track on half the Mahonesas and short the other is deliberate too.

I do indeed DB, if the rest of you are in agreement, and he would like to join in your deliberations let me know.
Rob.
If I can be of any help, let me know.
I'm sure that DB will be in touch with you in due course Dobbs.
Thanks for your kind offer.
Rob.
Thanks, Dobbs. I've asked for a Committee discussion, and most of what we do is usually best called "pick something that interests you, spitball an idea and start a discussion." :) Right now I'm working on trying to work out "generic baseline" stats for ratings we don't yet have, if you will a framework to tweak up or down as needed for different classes or individual ships.
I would second that Dobbs should be on the committee. For one the weight of shot rule really does add a nice element and helps expand the game into the smaller unrated ships.
