I am looking forward to this one Rob. I am really enjoying your terrain creations.
I also look forward to seeing this develope.
I too will be monitoring your progress on this project. I've been eyeing the same fortress on Julian's website.
Very impressive, Rob!
Here is the progress made today.

The base materials are laid out and drawn onto them go the patterns.
A new material for the base is used today. Foamed polystyrene called Palram.
It is less thick than my styrene foam and gives much lower cliffs as I want this fort nearly at sea level. For the hills in the background the old team of Plasticard and polystyrene will be used as per normal.
Palram is also great for building constructs and can be heat bent.
Attachment 36779
After cutting the Palram to rough shape, I cut a square slot into Julien's fort's outer-works and emplaced a gatehouse.
Attachment 36780
Once the styrene was cut I retried the pieces for fit with the shipyard, and popped the town houses on to see where they could go.
Attachment 36781
Finally today I cut the outer moat into the Palram with my router, and superglued the gatehouse into place.
Tomorrow terra forming commences.
Rob.
Not quite so much done today.
Cliffs roughed and terra forming as well.
Overnight I will try and get the outer works glued down to the base.

Drying overnight.

Today I finished off shaping the two base tiles and fitting to the already completed sections.
Attachment 36817
Then I Glued the rear tile to the foam base sheet ready for adding the beach.
Attachment 36818
Whilst that was setting I PVA coated the fort ready for undercoating.

I’m really in awe of the tiny detailing you’re able to work in! It’s so good, brother!
Thanks Chuck.
Being very short sighted helps.
Rob.
I've started work on my second island.

Not a bad sized Island.
I now need to do a few small ones and some rocks.
Rob.
Today's work.
Once the glue had gone off it was time to brown undercoat the two bases.
Attachment 36828
Next I gave another layer of PVA and spread my grass and sandy beach material.
Attachment 36829
I then started to paint the base colours on the fort.
Rob.
Today I completed my fort painting.

I am not going to get much chance for any work today, so before we go out I glued on the woodland and paintrd a few roads in.
Attachment 36862
Need to get a new white undercoat paint before I can start work on the houses.
Rob.
As I thought, all I got done last night was the bridge for the Fort and the water sluice gate.

Tomorrow comes mounting the cannon, and filling the moat, plus some house painting.

My second island approaches completion.
Attachment 36912
Only bitting and bobbing by me today I'm afraid.
Attachment 36913
Set up my guns.
Attachment 36914
Poured the resin into my water defences.
Attachment 36915
Whilst that sets I'm painting some of the houses for the town.
Rob.
Looking exceptionally good Rob. It's a good thing my model railroad has space priority at this time. I might be tempted to do some work along these lines, but there's no room to spare.
Completion day today.
Town painted and glued down.

Tomorrow I start work on the Santisima.
Rob.
Looks fantastic, Rob. You're working almost as fast as Dave's elves? Future AAR's will look extra special with that as a backdrop.
Thanks Jim and thanks for the Rep.
For your further delectation, I will be posting some pictures of the finished harbour here in a few minutes time.
Rob.
Damn fine work, sir! I love all the extra detail you have put into the harbor including the ship under construction on the slip.
Did you notice anything particular about the nearer ship in the wet dock Richard?
Rob.
Brilliant work, Rob. The background perspective with the harbor is almost perfect. I don't know if you have local magazines for miniature wargaming, but these photos would be a wonderful series for modelers to check out. :salute:
I used to be in contact with Duncan McFarlane Editor of Wargames Illustrated, but when it got taken over in 2009 I lost interest. It did not seem to cater for my needs anymore.
