Nice find. I wasn't aware the Portuguese Navy had so much.
Mike,
That's a really nice website. It archives the data on naval ships of the Era and could be useful for scenario construction.
Thank you for sharing.
Keep in mind it's a list of ships over a 100 year period so the whole list was not operating at one time, at about 1800 Portugal would have a little over 20 ships of the line. It's still a lot for a country of that size but Portugal had a a number of oversea colonies/possessions so having effective Navy was important to it's empire.
I realized that but still found it surprising they would have had 15 Sols at the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815. You just don't hear that much about their navy. They could have put together some impressive overseas squadrons with a just few SOLs comparable to what you would have found the major powers deploying.
Thanks for the link. Interesting compilation of information.
Like the others, I did not know that the Portuguese had a navy in those days. Did they ever go into action against the French?
Found another list:

They did fight alongside the British during the Napoleonic Wars:

And here is a little known conflict between the French and Portuguese in 1831:

And here is link to another forum that has a discussion about the Portuguese:
