Hi all, I've searched but can't find an answer to this. What, if anything have folks replaced the player wind indicators with, you know the ones that just fall apart when checking your ship or what's the best way of securing them?
Many thanks

I generally use Keith's wind indicator from the Anchorage store when they are in stock. They are much more robust.
Rob.
Thanks Rob, any idea when a restock is likely?
Keith is on about cutting some more measuring sticks for Wings, so i would send him a PM requesting wind indicators. I will get an extra couple too.
Rob.
Okey dokey
I just fold a piece of paper and put it in the plastic holder with the indicator.
I have answered Keith's post on the Drome asking him to consider a re-issue of Range sticks and Wind indicators.
This may reinforce your message to him Nigel.
Rob.
Further to my earlier message, i have just had a message from Keith to say that they are now on his cutting list for this week.
Rob.
Excellent news, I could do with a couple more for shows
I would like one myself.
Only the real deal for true mariners

Haven't played this for a while for lack of players. Sigh.
Anyway with the compass u can use true north as reference. Drawback - it takes a really long time for compass needle to stabilize. So needle locked and aligned to table edge
Great idea Rafael.
I have been wondering what to do with mine ever since a friend bought me it for Christmas a couple of years ago. Where did you get your dividers? Those have given me another idea.
Rob.
Just ebay i think. Can't remember, so many online shops. Its unbranded so not expensive.
The divider plays out as an adjustable range stick. Has a nautical theme moving in "legs". We play a lot over coffee so adjust range based on available table space at cafes. But you gotta get used to the changing distances.
That was what I had in mind for a pair of those Rafael. I will have a look on Evil bay then.
Thanks for the info.
Rob.
The islands are air dried clay. Very easy to make.
This is a portable modular tile set we made for naval games. It packs into an A3 sized carrier

A good idea for a very compact traveling setup Rafael.
Don't the Cafe owners mind you taking up their table space, or do you book a table? the plastic boxes are excellent for transporting and storing terrain. I use them for mine almost exclusively.
Rob.
Here are dividers by Weems and Plath:

They're privy, but W&P are marketing to the folks using them for navigation.
Thanks for that info Dobbs. I will take them under consideration. If I had any spare time I would make a pair.
Rob.
Mommy always joins us for coffee. So 3 of us in a 4 seat table. 2 seats for the board, 1 for mommy and the remaining space for food & drinks. Also try to keep the game to an hour... thats why War at Sea (ww2). And non peak hours. We are regulars too so they come and watch at times. They appreciate people not staring at their phones for a change.
Sounds like a plan there Rafael.
My oldest friend Geoff and I, in our youth, used to take the traveling chess set I made to the Inn near us and play a game over a few drinks on summer evenings in the beer garden. Must try and revise that with a game of Sails sometime.
Rob.
Go for it! :-)
