Put together again...
Very nice! Better got on and order some!

Well, that crazy Swede has built something again...
Just watch out. I happened to order a few ships extra... About those pictured above twice. Tomorrow I'll get another 4 Commerce de Bordeaux, 2 HMS Impetueux and a Zealous. Lucky that I get well payed for having to work three Saturdays in a row. Well... I'll probably be able to set up the Battle of the Nile soon. Just a lot of painting to do.
I'm thinking of cutting off the little cabin on the poop. I want to move the mizzen a little further back. It should be according to the layover I did above, and it would look a little better I think.
What would be the changes to a Temeraire Ship Card and Log for the Tonnant?
Brad, we're working on that in the Unofficial Stats Committee ATM. :) We *think* we have most of it nailed down...
There's a committee???
If there is one phrase to explain why humanity has never reached its full potential it is, "Committee Meetings!"
The Aerodrome Unofficial Stats Committee has done good work.
Very knowledgeable people have been fooled to let me join them to try to help others get reasonable stats for the ships we lack from Ares.
Basically the stats for a Tonnant-class ship is leaning towards about the same as the strongest firepower Téméraire from Ares (Fougueux and HMS Impetueux) and drop 1 veer.
And the left overs...

Working on a surrendered ship without masts.
you've done a good job, congratulations!
That's the plan. The idea wasn't mine. I have Iron Outlaw to thank for that. But it's a very good idea. :hatsoff:
Shape, drape and glue a tissue over the gap and paint it to resemble a sail then add some bits of a mast. Voila, a disabled 74!
Shaving less than a quarter inch off the hull while ignoring the overly thick masts and sails and bowsprit begs the question: Are you only looking at the hull? Why not shave the yardarms that end with what seems like giant (to scale) bannister knobs? There are so many things wrong with the SGN ships, you may as well just repaint them and say good enough is well done.
I like it!
Those are good looking models, Jonas!
I like 'em too Jonas!
Anyway, if the masts and yards were to scale they would be sooooo fragile and these ships are built for war!!!
Kenneth, you are right in that there are many faults with the models (all first/third rates having the same masts?) but what I'm trying to do isn't a perfect model of the original, but something that stands out from the standard SGN102 to make you realize that this is a different ship. I'd prefer to buy it finished from Ares, but it'll be years before they make Tonnant-class ships and they appear in too many battles to wait for them. I had to make it myself.
Thank you for your kind words. It was surprisingly easy to do, but very hard to get the cut looking good. I had to file it down a bit to get the ship straight and it was near impossible to hide the joint, even with milliput.
Stick them together and make a short 74 :happy:Quote:
And the left overs...
Nah. It could be useful to have a wreck and I get a bese I can use for another ship. I''m thinking of making another try at a metal ship. I've failed making a GHQ frigate before. I'm thinking that merchants might not be noticeably out of scale.

My first try ever at a sea base.
A little more done on the wreckage...
