I did not want to interrupt the flow of your game by commenting on the thread page Hugh. So I started this new thread in the hope that comments will come here until you complete at least.
It don't look as if you need any help with your tactics Admiral. Get those Marines ashore, and split the forts fire as much as you can.

This game is still going on. I hope to get it done by midday today. It's actually more enjoyable taking it a piece at a time rather than plowing through it to get it done before my wife wants the dinner table back!

I estimate about 600 casualties and 2 ships lost with another one needing major repairs. A heavy price to pay for capturing a fort?
Could be a good return.
Depends what the strategic gains were.
The capture of one fort in the Indian ocean led directly to the loss of the Isle de France to the French.
