Too slow! Missed the chance of a lifetime

A nice fort and there are two others close by if you pan out. One to 4 o'clock and the other around 8 o'clock guarding the entrance to the city. Wouldn't these make great copies for pirate bases or forts guarding sea passages. Nice find Daniel.
Nice! Thanks for the link. :hatsoff:
Would make a great place for a war gaming holiday!
Yep, lost out in the final round of bidding they mistook my 1.5 as millions when I was talking pence!
The interior shots are rather nice.
Imagine the gaming rooms one could have there.
Perhaps Julian could make you a model of the island, if you ask him nicely. :)
What a view over the sound.
I don't think I'd get anything done if I lived there.
Good job I missed the bidding.:moneygone:
Bligh.
Det er dejligt!
One can only dream of such a place but what nice conventions could be held there.
I wonder what it would cost to hire HMS Victory for a weekend?
Rob.
Would you like me to find out?
I was not being serious Dave, but if it is no trouble to yourself, it would be interesting to find out.
A Sails convention there would certainly set the bar high.
Rob.
I would come in my uniform and bring my ships. At the very least one of them...
I had a quick word with someone in the know. Well into four figures.....
I am not surprised Dave.
Shall we try a Kickstarter among the membership?
If only my Lottery tickets had come up!
Rob.
I'm not surprised either.
How many can fit in there or how much would it be each?
I know there wont be that many that could pay very much for a weekend of gaming like that, but it would be a once in a lifetime thing.
For me it's also half a thousand pounds just to get there. Still I would do it if it's not more than about a hundred each entrance.
Great little get away Daniel.
Overnight stays are very popular on some of the US fighting ships of World War 2. Most of the money they generate goes back into the museum coffers. Here's the link to USS Cobia overnight brochure. $44.00 per person.

HMS Victory would be a once in a lifetime experience, but I'd be worried something could happen to damage the national treasure?
I perhaps should leave the hessian boots at home. They have iron heel-pieces.
Well if it was good enough for Lord Nelson to trip over it is good enough for me!
Last time I visited HMS Victory I was partly in charge of about 60 teenage girls having been foolish enough to volunteer to help out on a school outing at my daughter's school. Thought it would be a jolly good wheeze to get an all expenses paid trip around the ship. Turned out to be an absolute nightmare. Give me boys any day, these bloody girls were uncontrollable. I never volunteered again.

I've visited HMS Victory twice but not since the repaint so I guess it would be time to go soon anyway.
I am hoping to get down there sometime this year myself Jonas.
It must be about 10 years since my last visit.
Rob.
Will do.
The Avalon Hill game is still regarded as a classic :)
