On a related note I have been feeling like there should be rules about smoke obstruction in general. Got extra smoke markers for just that reason. Potentially continuous fire would be creating more smoke (i.e. it would be distributed more broadly) but I guess you could still sail out of the smoke each turn...
I might be wrong, but I think I remember some discussion about Ares eventually releasing rules for the smoke markers in the future. Haven't read about it in a long time, though.
I posted a thread about continuous fire a short while ago along the lines of "um, WHY would you not do it?" and this would be one good reason. I like where it is going in concept.
