:drinks::g&t::rum::beer: That's for starters. CONGRATULATIONS on your promotion Chris. :salute: HUZZAH, HUZZAH, HUZZAH!!
Chris... a Lieutenant? I think he would prefer Pirate King!

Well done Chris, welcome to the ranks of 2nd Lt's
Congrats!!
:salute:
Congratulations, Chris.
I predict a rapid rise for our loquacious Lieutenant... especially since the primary path to promotion is being a big enough bag of wind to singlehandedly drive HMS Victory at frigate-like speeds. :P
Congrats, amigo!
Congrats! Help yourself to the monkey's blood in the wardroom (can't wait to taste it myself).
<- looks around at shoulders; notices extra pip
Well, nice to see someone noticed -- because *I* sure didn't. :)
Thanks, all. I still need to see about getting my flag put together....
Maybe some of our newer members skilled in computer graphics can whip out something. Here's the prior post (scroll down a ways) with what was wanted:

Hey! I might resemble that remark!
Less realistic is a relative thing.
How does this strike you?

Wow, that looks great. If Chris doesn't claim it, some else will snatch it up!
Congradulations on your promotion sir. Something for us all to achieve.
I thickened the detail lines a bit so that they would be more visible at the small size of the images

Nice work Bruce. That is pretty awesome looking.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch, congratulations, Chris ! :salute:
Congrats! :rum:
Congrats! :rum: Rum is Yum
Almost perfect -- just a couple points:
1) The shark-jaw motif I was thinking of is more "a pair of arcs, with triangles along the inner sides". Bearing in mind most pirates were not artists, such things were generally abstracted.
2) I recall I had the tip of the sword and the barrel of the pistol pointing up, not down; can't remember if I specified that, or not.
Other than that: Perfect.
Mon Dieu! Did I miss this promotion?
Congratulation, Chris. :g&t:
Bravo, well done Chris!!!

That looks like what Chris descibed. Well done.
Bruce, do you give Adobe Illustrator tutorials? That is amazing.
I have illustrator to make figures for journal manuscripts. They require a high res figure for print publications. What I do with it is so basic, it's almost laughable. Case in point I made my avatars with illustrator. That's the extent of my skill with the program.

Chris, great avatar. Most befitting your promotion.
Bruce, great work.
Yes -- now I need to figure out how a pirate would operate in the Pacific Northwest in the time period.... :)
Congratulations Chris. not far to Pirate Captain now. :rum::beer::salute:
And a well done to Bruce on two great flag designs.:hatsoff:
Congrats on the position AND flag. If I'm ever sighted off the coast of Oregon I'll be sure to lower my flag in deference to you.
