The sloop Clearwater is a restored river cargo ship that typically sailed the Hudson River in the 18th and 19th centuries. Folk singer Pete Seeger founded and restored the Clearwater as an environmental classroom that still sails the Hudson from New York City to Albany from April to October. It sails past my house often every summer and berths for awhile just across the river from me. Historically these ships sailed supplies from NYC to upstate New York -- eventually loaded on barges on the Erie Canal to be shipped to western New York State. You can still book rides on the Clearwater today. I've also enclosed photos from the restoration of the ship. Also enclosed is a picture of a sister ship the schooner Mystic Whaler which sails with the Clearwater in the summers.
