Default Just arrived to the group

    Hello
I have just joined the group after buying the SOG game. Am finding the forum very good to read. I hope to add to the forum as much as I can.
I have been wargamer for over 40 years now. I do love this period of history, studied it very much and have a large amount of books on the subject from 1739-1815 of the sailing navies.
I shall be playing my first game of SOG this weekend and will let you know what happened.
    Thanks
    Richard

    Welcome to you, from Bristol.
We are putting on games of SoG at a few wargames shows around the uk this year. The next one will be at Partizan In May. If you close enough pop along and say hello and have a chat. Take a look at the UK fleet and listed there are a few show reports and other we are due to attend.

    Good morning Richard.
Having just returned from a voyage to Europe, I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Anchorage.
You will find a fine body of mess mates here as you could wish for, so pull up a bollard fill your bumper and let us share a few yarns together over a spot of the old Madeira in my day cabin.
    Bligh.

I hope you will find it interesting and that you still can learn a thing or two, and hopefully let us learn from your knowledge and long experience.

Welcome to the Anchorage Richard from West Yorkshire. Exactly which part of Jolly Old England do you come from? I'll be drinking your health in the Wardroom tonight. Salute! Pint, pint, pint.

Richard is from a good old seafaring town if you take a look at his profile.

    Hello,
Thanks for all the kind replies
I am from Liverpool which has a very long seafaring tradition. We have a wonderful maritime museum, well worth seeing. Home of the Liver Buildings, and the Cunard building. Lots of big cruising liners now dock here on a regular basis.
My main period of the sailing navy is the 1739 to 1815, and have a large data on the Royal Navy of that period. I have an extensive library (nearly 600 books at my last count), hopefully I can help anyone with information.
The forum looks very good and is well used. I shall be playing my first game this weekend with SOG, and let you know how I get on
    Cheers
    Richard
