Hi everyone! I have recently acquired Sails of Glory, and am looking forward to playing. In handling the vessels, I noticed the wobbliness of the pieces. I have been thinking of gluing them to the clear portions of the bases. This would still allow access to the cards. Does anyone see any reason why this is a bad idea, or have a better suggestion. P.S. I have never belonged to anything like this previously, so if my etiquette is flawed please feel free to correct me.

If you ever desire to join the campaign, let me know and I will help you develop a roster. Solo play is a great way to learn the game, and much fun is to be had with the group. I played in a solo campaign on the Aerodrome for Wings of Glory; I learned a lot and was able to get to know some of the members much better. I just jumped back into one on the early years of WWI - great fun.

Blu-Tack is a reusable putty, ideal for applications like this.

Try Elmer's poster tack, a tiny bit in the hole. This is enough for 10,000 ships.

I am sorry that I called you Robert, Dobbs. Welcome to the Anchorage anyway. I put two or three small blobs of the Blu-tack putty like material onto the bases of my ships and then gentle press them onto their clear bases. It is sticky enough to hold the ships in place but it is not permanent and can easily be removed. It may need renewing after a while, if it becomes too dry. There are similar materials available under other names.

I dont know how other are coping with this, but I remove the ships from their bases all the time. Its useful with short distance shooting, when the ruler greatly exceeds the distance between the bases, and you still want to check exactly if it rakes or if its close or full range. Its also useful when moving close to each other and sometimes its handy to place a maneuver card on top of other ship's base and move yours over it to avoid collisions.

Welcome Dobbs. I do not glue the ships to their bases because the masts are fragile, especially in the big ships, and they could break if you hit the ship by error in the movement phase. Sometimes the pivot under the ships is too fat and don´t enter in the hole of base. In that case i sand the pivot till it can enter in the hole. If you have some mast of your ships broken in future, do not glue it. Use putty for models.

Welcome Dobbs, I tried the AA peg glue on mine. Was better but not entirely satisfactory. I am now toying with the magnets idea

A belated Welcome aboard, Dobbs! Definitely try the Tack stuff, don't use any kind of Super glue whatever you do!!!

I did use CA. I gently sanded the bottoms of the models so that sat flatly on the clear plastic, and then carefully glued them to the clear piece with a thick CA. Then I drilled out the bases ever so slightly so the pins would fit easily. Now the ships can be picked up to check firing arcs or to flip the cards, but they don't wiggle.
