    Default Suffren vs. Hughes

An article I wrote for the NWS some years ago covering the naval campaign off the coast of India in the early 1780s. It should be familiar to players of WSIM, and is an ideal campaign to refight given the balanced (and fairly modest) forces involved.

David is this the same article as appeared in The General magazine for WSIM? I recall (vaguely) they did this campaign and it's balanced scenarios made for great gaming. For once the French crews were better than "poor"!

No, I didn't get into writing "serious" stuff until the General has ceased to be.

it says the combat system of WSIM was broken
Yes, it was (but it was still a great game, and one that I still pull of the shelves and play). I know the designer of CFA very well - if you look in my albums you'll see some photos from the mega games that he has run and a that I played in over in DC a few years back. But they were errors in the technical aspects rather than the game play, so they would not necessarily be apparent unless one had a fairly detailed background knowledge.

Loads of good material here. And also good news in that you can purchase a CD with PDF editions of the complete set of "The General" :)
