Today, I have finished the spaniard ship Santísima Trinidad, I hope you like the final result and that soon will lead Jonas's Spanish fleet.

Vol, good job. May I ask how you made the wave base? and another question, the reddish color that you used to paint the waist, is it an artist license or is it historical?

Julian, for the base I use a clear household contact cement named Goop. I first squeeze on a thin coat in a circular motion to ompletely coverthe base. Then I sqeeze out thicker beads for waves. After 5-minutes I use a wooden toothpick to stir up the thick lines ito proper waves. I push the model into it at this point and use the toothpick to touch up the waves and wake. The base sets up to touch in 30-minutes.

The Earth Red for the waist and upper masts comes from the Spanish Admiralty paint scheme requirements established at thend of the 18th century.

Jonas, your painting is good, believe me. Until I didnt have the Santisima in front of me, in 1/1000 scale I have not realized the amount of detail that you do to the ships.

I apply inks to correct the outline and joins but I imagine you don't want to do it so as not to obscure the original colors of the boat, which gives it more realism.

I think Julián is a victim of his own excellence Jonas. We already know how good he is.
As soon as I told people that you had printed me those Frigates they started discussing how good yor Spanish were and the other ships you had posted.

Well, I’m sad I couldn’t be there. I looked up the Covid rules and a couple of weeks back it would require a place for a two week isolation prepared to handle if a test was positive. I don’t think much have been relaxed lately.

It will have to wait until next year.

Thank you, Julián. I’ve seen your 1:1200 and know what you can do.
I’m honored to be thought of as a good painter in this company as the best here at the Anchorage keep a very high standard.

And I’ve been continuing with my Spanish.

Jonas, in my opinion you rank up there with the best ship painters. Your crisp lines are excellent, and your added stern details are unique and inspiring!
The agravating thing to me is how you and Julian maintain this excellent quality on multiple ships at the same time!
I am striving to reach your level! But I know I will never match the numbers.

And then, as an afterthought, I decided to add some crew. I only had 36 Eduard photo etched figures in the right scale. So they are sparse, sorry. You have to use some imagination and multiply by a factor of 27, LOL. I must put in an order for more figs.

Wrong time to be working on Purisima Concepcion. I will be outshone by far.

There’s 15mm guns for my WSS army too. I’m playing around with Henry Turner’s Napoleonic guns by scaling things individually and trying to make it look a hundred years older.

those guns with the long trails remind me of the ECW guns we use, but the others look almost like AWI ones. I don't know much about the WSS field pieces though. They all look very well detailed Jonas.

Henry Turner as usual makes very detailed models. He made them for 10 mm but they are easily good for 15 mm or even 28 mm.

The short carriages are regimental guns that can be brought by infantry.

Splendid Jonas. I expect that will give you a much lighter troops box. Does he do limbers as well?

Yes, these are lighter, but the armies didn't have that big batteries with many guns.

To be honest, I'm not sure if he does limbers. I didn't look for them. I have some painted already for my Swedish army which are quite neutral and can be used by either army. These are for my Holy Roman Empire army consisting of Austrian, Brandenburg and several small German states. I know he has artillery wagons on his Patreon voting list.

Similar to my AWI army then Sven.
The reason Captain Kiwi and I chose them was to save on cost as we were looking for something where the youngsters in our Wargames club could build an army without the cost of huge numbers of guns and limbers, plus only small cavalry units, without the extra expense of extra horse holders and dismounted and mounted figures. Galloper guns also helped to keep down the cost of horses.

I have quite a lot of cavalry though. My Swedish GNW army is half cavalry and was so aggressive the sometimes didn’t wait for the artillery to catch up. My Austrian WSS is also cavalry heavy but also have more artillery.

I did finish the hull of Purissima Concepcion.

    Thank you Chris.

I'm not sure why things aren't working, Rob. Sometimes I don't see your pictures when you post an AAR. I have to reload the page or even look on my phone.

I thought that was because you post your pictures as attachments and can't get them to work "inline". There's something strange going on with attached pictures.

    Hi Jonas.
This morning I can see them fine, and they are another set that do you credit.
I'm sure it is something in my security systems which sometimes takes offence. On the odd occassion I can post a picture in a set and it comes up without an attatchment, but the rest are still the same. If I leave it without an attatchment, it will have gone the following day.

I can see that one Jonas. Another fine ship to add to your Spanish Fleet.

    Thank you, Rob.

Right now I have glued sewing thread to the topsails of the first rates but not on any other ships.

I’m not sure but I think I like it.

It’s would be a bit fiddly to add it to the third rates but I wonder if it would be worth it.

First a cast lead gun, 3D printed scaled and stretched to look the same and then the same again but a regimental gun.

I love that extra detailing Jonas.
Was it as fiddly as it looks?

I leave you some photos of my latest work in 1/700 scale. This time is the frigate USS Constitution.

Sorry guys, I haven't checked in for several days. Thank you for the nice comments on my Purisima, and for the reputation points Rob and Julian.
Jonas your Purisima is lovely. Mine is one of Simon's, yours is Henry's I think. There are some differences I can see.
I love the way the ordinance Henry is doing is turning out. I want to try some but my printer has been on the fritz for a while now.

I am slowly building the Duguay Trouin from one of Simon's Temeraire hulls. Tonight I got the first half of the standing rigging done. Sorry no pic of it. The last photo I took was of the sails on the main mast and the spars going on the foremast. My first try at cloth sails.

The sails look very smart Vol. The last time I tried anything in fabric was many years ago when I did the membrain on the wings of a Games Workshop Dragon. What textile do you use and what stiffening method do you employ to hold the shape. I used my old standby of watered down PVA glue in several coats for mine. i will post a picture later when I get a chance to take a photo of it.

Exactly what I use too Rob. Watered down PVA with a dollop of Country Twill and a drop of Antique White mixed in. These I shaped over a set of plastic sails for a 1/450 scale plastic Victory model kit I haven't built. The cloth is a tight weave piece I bought at a fabric store.

    Yes, my Purisima is Henry’s.

That looks great! Can’t wait to see her finished.
