Looks like a smart little craft Jonas.
I hope you will provide us with some more photos after the event.

It was a truly great day even though the weather got a little worse with dark grey skies.
I just finally got home. There may be a video of tacking taken from the quarterdeck upcoming.

That would be very interesting to myself, and I am sure to many other landlubbers as well.

    Here it goes.

How to tack a brig without using a spanker.

    Impressive Jonas.
I have read about this action times, but to actually see the yards braced round in real time as the ships heading changes is far more informative than all the diagrams in the world.
Did they reset the Spanker after that?
    Thanks for that.
    Rob.

We didn't have the spanker set at all.

What we did to tack was:

    • Reduce sail forward by striking the fore mainsail.
    • Turn rudder.
    • Brace about the main. It turns easily almost by itself.
    • Brace about fore.
    • Sheet home, rudder midships and set fore mainsail.

    Nice trip, Jonas.

How many guns has this brigg and did you do some gunnery practice?

It's a modern replica of a naval transport ship, HMS Gladan, that never had any guns at all.
She's 350 tons, 35 meters hull length (waterline, she takes up somewhere around 46 meters at the wharf including bowsprit) and mast at almost 30 meters high.

It was the bracing of the mainsail that I found most impressive Jonas.
The ease ans speed with which it changed direction was a real surprise to me.
