It was Morten who was asking for help against we two Dave, so I thought I would send him some, as the story line that you started with your hands manning the capstan evolved.
The Spanish were the best offer I could find.

Do you think we squandered our Broadsides weeks ago instead of reserving them for this?

It was not a competition as such Dave, until you manned the Capstan, so I riposted with anchors aweigh and it went down hill from there. We now seem to be engaged in a sea battle.

actually I do not quite know what David did wrong, but my best guess is he has unloaded anchor the wrong place with put paying tax...SO, yes David is responsible for the new Epic naval battle
well, I was wrong when I anticipated that David was about to run out of bullets and at this moment I am trying to rectify my mistake...

I think I will pass on this for the mo, my mum has been in a care home for 3 years now with Dementia, and has now got pneumonia. She is expected to pass away today or tomorrow.
A bit of a blessing really, but still rather sad.

God bless you and your family Richard. I am so sorry 3 years is a very long time and must have worn you all up. Nothing i can say or nothing i can do, but one great Danish author and former vicar, Johannes Mřllehave, did put it in this way:
" Det ender godt" ("it ends well").

I have only just seen this on this thread. Not one I follow. I understand you as my Dad made the same journey 18 months ago. He was lucky and only had 4 months in a home. I was happy for him to go. I had lost the man called my farther a long time ago. All the things I know he did not want to happen to him, happened. This made me sick and sad. My Mum has moved on and we can remember him as he was before Dementia. It kills all around the person with it. We are now free to think of the good times we all had. Hope you and yours do too.
I send my love to you all.

    Thanks Shipmates!

Its ok really. Once we get past the funeral things will improve, but there is much to do before then of course!

Please carry on having fun on this forum, normality is ok!!! I am finding a lot of pleasure on TMP and here which helps a lot!

    Just got in tonight Richard.
I'm really sorry to hear that your mother is so near to the great adventure.
I just hope that her passing is an easy one.
Pneumonia can be kind in that way.
Although I did not know her personally, I will say a prayer for her, yourself and your family tonight.
    Rob.

Thanks Rob, but I dont mind beer related things going up!!! I just had a call from the home saying she is rattly chested and showing blueness in her face, which are all good signs that the end, happily, is near.

Prayers are always welcome! see? the site even has an icon for it!

Be happy chaps! Death can be a gift!

please remember that just because my name is captain Bligh, I am not the heartless flogging martinet whom some would have you believe me to be Mr Christian.
Now where's that MIDSHIPMAN Richard Herkybird hiding?

    Ah, that would be telling!

Happily, my Mum finally passed away about an hour and a half ago, and I am waiting for the GP to come and certify it, then the funeral director, the council et al to sort, then back to sensible things like wargaming!
