    Another famous ship, H.M.S. Hotspur from the Hornblower saga.

    Hotspur was the nickname given to Sir Henry Percy during the Wars of the Roses in the 15th century. Four ships in the royal Navy have been named H.M.S. Hotspur. The first was 36-gun frigate launched in 1810 not a sloop, as in Horatio Hornblower's adventures. The most recent was an H-class destroyer in W.W.2, shown in the photograph below.

    The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
