    Default Release the kraken

I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean last night for probably the 30th time or so and it gave me an idea. I have a 3d printer and i'm pretty decent with 3ds max so I'm thinking of making giant kraken tentacles that appear to come up out of the play area and run a scenario with them where you must kill the kraken before it destroys your ships. sound cool to you?

We've kicked the idea around a little bit in the past. Here are some posts you might find interesting:

How does one go about killing a Kraken? If it's body is underwater it would be a little difficult to hit it with a broadside I would think!

Wait until it attacks you on the surface, I suppose. Use poisoned harpoons?

I was actually thinking about having it to where the Kraken has to surface to attack. and it would also have its own maneuver deck, when it's submerged you'd have a card on the play area and when it surfaces to attack you'd replace the card with the model.

Blow off enough tentacles, and it bleeds out (or Other Life Forms show up to deal with it...).

If its main body is near enough to the surface, cannon shot might hit it; not sure how far into defilade one would need to aim, tho'....

    Boarding Actions seem contraindicated. >:)

No ship would have any kind of a fighting chance against such a creature. The only scenario I can even think of, is to have a kraken show up and see how many ships can escape alive. No one has ever killed a kraken. One tentacle is enough to send the largest man-o-war to the depths. The only thing you could do is fight off it's tentacles and sail away as fast as you can, firing broadsides into those tentacles to slow them down enough to make your escape. Making a kraken killable simply by shooting off it's tentacles goes against everything written about it.

Throw some dragons into the mix like the Temeraire book series. They can kill the Kraken for you.
