    Looks *really* clunky and cumbersome.

It's obviously in alpha state right now. It's got a long way to go to get to a beta testing version. That'll knock the clunks out of it. As far as being cumbersome, war simulations usually are. The more cumbersome, the more realistic. If your game has to take into account whether the coxtswain got enough sleep last night to be able to pilot the captain's gig in chop, you're looking at a very realistic simulation.

Don't confuse cumbersome or complex with realistic. I work with a number of professional warfighting simulation systems, some computer bsdd, domr more akin to classic tabletop miniatures and board wargames. Some of the most realistic systems are actually the simplest to operate. Of course some are indeed horrendously complex but those are generally left to the computers to resolve

I've been eesjgning wargames and rules for about 40 years, publishing for 25. I've had an uber complex phase (my first modern air combat game a good example, thank heavebs I canned it) but now I much prefer low complexity games that are fast flowing and with a lot of period feel to them. Also much easier to get a game finidhed in the 3 hours on games night

So you're the one that wrote SPI's Air WAR.

I played many an hour of that game and it had to be the most complex, detailed air combat game I ever played.
