Thread: Rules for Junks and Turtle boats

Default Rules for Junks and Turtle boats

I was reading on another thread about possible Wave 3 ships.

My interest was immediately peaked when Jim mentioned Junks and Turtle Ships.

I thought I was the only crazy one thinking about these unique vessels.

During the Pirates pocket model run, I had accumulated a gazillion of these, with the intent to create some scenarios.

My only problem is I could not find a set of rules.

So... I am wondering if a set even exists.

Has anyone out there seen one, or have any information?

You will need a rule about rowing, I presume, and then some ship statistics and a way to convert these into a ship mat and movement cards.

I've written a couple of sets of rules for these. in fact the first set was drafted about 20 years ago. Just waiting for someone to do some models. We came close about 6 years ago with a manufacturer who was keen to run a joint venture, but the funding wasn't there and they moved on to other things.

David, I am wondering if you would be willing to share your work on this form of naval warfare.

I have always found it very interesting, and I bet I am not alone.

That is unless you are still planning to do a venture with them.

    Hi David.
if you have those old rules knocking around, they'd be played and much appreciated.
very few people have the time or money to collect and paint physical models these days, it's all about the 3D.
(as an oldskool veteran, i think it's a shame.. but i can also embrace the future). :)

anyway.... Regards to you. It was your massive collection of ACW boats that got me into modelling river craft.

    thanks.
