    Default Hearts of Oak--Computer Simulation/Game?

I've been looking for a good PC naval sailing simulation for a long time. Played Age of Sail and Age of Sail 2 many years ago and Pirates of the Burning Seas many, many years ago. I've seen Virtual Sailor 7, but have not downloaded it as I understand it is not compatible with Windows 7. Now I just stumbled on a new simulation that was announced in October of this year? Hearts of Oak, Conquest of the Seas, still a work in progress.

I don't expect to see this as a finished product for some time, but the 'teaser trailer' is kind of entertaining.

If anyone has suggestions on PC naval simulations I'd be happy to hear more. Cheers!

WWI aviation is going to be Wings Over Flanders Field from what I've read, at least for solo play. And it's for PC only, no Mac.

For ww1 try Sid Myers ace patrol. It's a little like wings of glory and it's for iPhone and iPad. I discovered it yesterday while trying to find out how ares wings of glory ios game is progressing (turns out it's not at the moment). Ace patrol is pretty good and it's free, only trouble is if you get pilots shot down, the game tries to incentivise you to spend money to get them back faster. Still it tides me over while I wait for that dispatch tracking number to appear.

'Hearts of Oak' sounds very elaborate. Do you think that it might be too ambitious to be available any time soon?

I don't know David. It does look very ambitious and I've not had a chance to look at their forums to see what progress has been made since this October announcement.

While looking at several simulations I also found this 'mod' work done by someone for Virtual Sailor 6.5. http://usuarios.arsystel.com/naviost/nst/3D.htm I was impressed, and if something like this shows up in Hearts of Oak I'm probably going to get on board (although I'm thinking they might be focused on a pirate time frame which is much earlier?)

Just saw this on the forums; some interesting model work being done: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/h...-update.21140/

I really like this Russian frigate: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/r...upgrade.20945/

I would second this one. Fun little game even if the historical aircraft timeline is off a bit. The pay version is worth the $3.99. They is also a WWII Pacific version.
