As for the painting, some of it's by hand and some is not. Being an n scale model railroader I had on hand graphic/chart tape we use for simulating white lines on n scale roads. The bottom white line on the ST is 1/64 'tape', as are some of the black lines I cut to size for in between the gun ports. My hand is steady most of the time, but I also like to find easier ways to model whenever I can. Might be cheating in some folks eyes, but it makes for a better looking ship I think.
    No Jim,
One can not cheat, just be different. Please give us/me more information on your line tape thing.

Sure thing, Rory. Way before computers and CAD graphics everything was done with pen, pencil, ink and graphic tape. While there are still a few producers of graphic/chart tape out there, most can't compete with digital production techniques. I know there are some companies who produce the tape for white board presentations, etc., but again the computers have pretty much taken over. The tape in many widths is still used by hobbyists, from model railroaders to radio controlled builders, etc.

I don't know if you can get them via Amazon in the UK, but that's how I initially got mine outside of the local hobby stores (who no longer carry these in stock).

Here are a couple of links with a little more information.

The tape is tacky enough to stick to paint and metal, but I still spray or paint a dull coat finish over the top of it to keep it from coming loose. We do the same on the n scale roads.

I hope this is what you were looking for?

I just had a search for this tape Jim, and although Amazon US stock it I can't order from them for some reason.
Amazon U.K. say they have it but not in stock for the foreseeable future and only in 3mm upward.
What width did you use? and if it is only available in the Us I will have to try and get someone to send it over for me.

I ordered 1/32 and 1/64 tapes from Amazon. I found some listed on Amazon UK, but it's 3mm which is close to 1/8 and probably wider than what you're looking for. Here's the link.

I found another company in the US that says they ship overseas? Try them if you can't find something in the UK?

    Thanks Jim.
All the U.K. suppliers don't go below 3mm and as you say that is too thick.

    https://www.amazon.com/Chartpak-Grap...art+tape+white

have a notice to indicate that they do not ship to the U.K.

    Thanks for trying Jim.

Send me a PM with your mailing address. I can send you 2 black and 2 white. They gave me quite a few extra when I ordered last time and I'll never use them all at this point in my miniature building.

That is most civil of you Jim.
Let me know the going rate for them and postage. I will send you a Paypal for the price.
If there is anything I can get for you over here just let me know.
