We want a picture of the gundalow "Philadelphia" !!
TBH I have not played vanilla SOG for a number of years now, only Dobbs' version. I still use the ships but with other rules. I still play WoG but have never really participated in the Aerodrome....
It was a fun game and thanks to Dobbs for hosting. The schooners only hope was to plink away at the larger ship with some concentrated fire before we were riddled with shot holes! My schooner was...
I signed on for the combo. There are some add on as well. The Frigs&Brigs pack looks interesting if you are interested in the smaller vessels.
I saw sustained winds over 20 knts with gusts over 30 knts in Rock Hall last weekend. Even up in Wilmington we had a steady 17 knts with 20 knt gusts. I was out cycling on Sunday and really got blown...
I would chime in and say that normally we get better wind in October, but a few years ago when I was in the spectator fleet the fresh breeze died just as the fleet reached the start line!
We now...
Thanks for the report!
Thanks for the detailed report. I pay a visit to Texel and Den Helder next time I visit the Netherlands. I am going to try and visit the maritime museum in Curacao when I am there in November.
Welcome Jim!
From my experience in the US I have seen more people using the 1/700 scale Black Seas ships with other games than playing Black Seas. The Warlord ships are nice models and some of...
Wow what a spot! Sometimes arriving by boat gets you the best parking spots.
I am amazed they are still working on the rigging. Must be another scheduled refit. I was onboard after last...
Incredible game that. One of the chaps in our Too Fat Lardie group in the US ran a similar game using KMH and the 1/700 Warlord ships at Historicon last weekend. It was not the full battle however....
Ah Ft. Dix. Got mustered out there years ago!
While the battlefield is mostly housing developments, Rte 100 is still a nice, wooded drive along the creek! In Delaware that area was preserved in...
Sadly, most of the battlefield has been built on by housing developments. However, there is a bit of preserved land near the creek and the headquarters house as well as a nice museum.
Side note I just saw that P&S released an epub version of the book and Amazon has it on Kindle. 20 pounds for the epub and 40 pounds for the hardback. 60 USD on Amazon. I think this type of reference...
Great AAR Mike!
What part of New Jersey are you from? Curious because my wife is originally from the Trenton area, and I noted "Brandywine" on your shirt. I am not far south of the battlefield in...
If you have access to a 3d printer there are models on My Mini Factory and Wargaming 3d. Sometimes you can find preprinted models on Etsy or you could use a printing service.
An example:

Nice backstory to the history of the HMS Guerriere. We all know her fate after she was brought into RN service!
There is a perfect space for a nice 27" 4k monitor in between those laptops.
I had not seen this thread up yet for this month. So here is a post, abet one having no ships on it yet!
Gold Miners for a new wild west game called "What a Cowboy". 3d prints from 3D Breed...
Wow! Thank you so much for measuring! This is a great help!
When using the SoG ships with other rules the large base often gets in the way so I wanted to make bases that more closely conform to...
Thanks Rob! I totally forgot they were tapered!
Has anyone measured the peg diameter on the ships?
Searching the site has not turned up anything. I am going to 3d print bases and thought I would ask here before somewhat inaccurately measuring...
If you are interested in the sailing and working of square-rigged ships it is invaluable. I got my copy in 1999 when I was in a tall ship sail training class. Our captain pretty much mandated it! At...
it seems to me that a factor affecting this fort is the lack of a height advantage. In other words, being close to water level it is easier for the ships to hit and damage with a flat trajectory....
