Hi Robert,
I'm with you. I would have preferred consistency, anyway the hulls of these models are consistent in scale with wave 1 and 2.
My Mahonesa models have poor paintwork too.
Yes Rob, the Hebe model ports are too large. Proportions in Mahonesa and Ardent are better respected. At the end of the day Mahonesa and Ardent are far better models than we expected/feared.
Last...
Finally I wanted to compare a SoG Ardent to a metal high end hull,
33571
not bad at all.
Conclusion:
At this point I had to do the same with the Hebe:

Well gun ports are clearly oversized, except this the hull is good.
Are the wave 4 gun port to small or the wave 2 gun ports too large?
I checked the models against the draughts
the following is an Ardent
33538
taking into account that the picture is distorted...
I had the impression that the gun ports in wave 3 and 4 models looked smaller than those of wave 2.
Therefore I compared an Hebe and an Ardent:
There is a noticeable difference between the two...
more about this later as I have to go, please wait.
The Ardent class with a gun deck of 49,2 mm is almost in perfect scale 1:982
33503
but I wonted to compare them with wave two.
I managed to get pictures of the models and measure them with my caliper (not with the paper tape measurer:happy:)
33502
the scale of the Mahonesa class, with a gun deck length of 44,2 mm, is...
I received today my Agamemnon. It's a pretty nice model and the scale is almost perfect (just a little bit oversized). We have the same odd wind problem and the other thing I noticed so far, that...
Hi Rob,
I received yesterday my Mahonesa, I measured her and she passed musters, well at list this is my first impression as far as measures are concerned. Of course we have the odd wind problem,...
Thank you for your work and help.
Yes DB, no lower boom, according to Boudriot.
DB, in my opinion Bonhomme Richard's mizzen should look like in the attached picture.

Wonderful job Julian,
I hope this helps,

Good news,
I contacted ARES and e-mailed them my remarks on wave 3 and 4 models, they will examine them. For the moments Roberto told me that the Mahonesa will be about 10% larger than in picture...
Thanks Oliver,
It should also be handy for conversion projects.
I think the same: it doesn't look right, the size is wrong, the gun ports are wrong, the sail plant is wrong and it looks like my kids' (old and mothballed) "yellow tub-marine" and unfortunately it...
DB, a "vela latina" on such a ship looked awfully wrong to me at first sight, but I was not sure it might have been used all the same.
DB if you think I can help I can e-mail ares using the same language, and by the way, my Nautical Italian Dictionary is better than my English.
Please forgive my English, I understand I used the wrong word mentioning a “cross-jack”. What is its name? It is not a “gaff”, nor a “spanker”. "lateen" is the sail only or can be used for both?
Hello,
I would be interested to buy 1x damage counter bags, do you think they could be mailed (to Italy) in a cheaper way?
Thanks,
Franco
It will be really unfortunate if the models, once distributed, will end up being shorter than a Temeraire. This is a well-documented class, with even a model at the Trianon (Friedland) realized...
I did not considered that! that might be the case.
