That's a lot of 1st Raters. It will however be good to have some Spanish ships.

Exactly, expensive. I was always worried about this, and because of this I long delayed to purchase my own copy of the game. I knew from the beginning that it will not end with core set. :moneygone:
Im just drooling over having another 24 ships , il worry about paying later. :help:, just want :please::moneygone:
My wife would certainly have divorced me, if she discovered how much money I spend on it
All these posts are making me even more anxious for some official word on a release date?! As usual there are continued updates on the Wings Facebook page and all we see are Ares plans for more board games on our FB page?
While the Spanish will be excellent to have I think the 64 gun and 50 gun vessels will be very useful. Especially the 64 which will add further variety to the 3rd Raters.
I'm getting more excited about this. I wish they would give us more details!
Christmas time would work out ok for me, I can probably beg some as presents!
Nice thread - thanks all, especially DB confirming Wave 3 config...
ˇViva! ˇHurra!
In Italy in August is the Ferragosto holiday/ celebration, plus from memory most Italians head for the mountains and cool air.
So I eould not expect to hear anything at all in August, maybe Sept
Sooner is better than waiting for a particular time of year in my books. There will only be further delay with distribution if they tried to time things.
Yes but if I add disposable income to family presents I can get the whole set in both ship cards.:minis:rather than just some presents to fill the Christmas gap that I don't really want.
Rob.
Perhaps you need to educate the family on what you "need". My son seems to do better with his wife than I ever have...
:salute:It is not so much the need Keith. They all know that.
It's the not being able to get, because what was promised for Octember does not appear until March or April.
They seem to want to give presents on the 25th December for some strange reason, not wait until late Spring. They seem to think that takes the edge off Christmas.:surrender:
I can't understand the reasoning. i would be quite happy to wait and get the one real thing I want,:minis: rather than get a lot of well meaning stuff I really don't need.
Rob.
I completely understand
We have some news !!!
"The famous Spanish 1st rate, Santa Ana, will be one of the ships featured in the forthcoming wave of Sails of Glory."

Viva Espagna?
That is good news.
I was pretty sure that Santa Ana and Principe de Asturias would be among the six ships in the Santa Ana class (Los Meregildos).
I would also guess, but not as surely, that at least Real Carlos and probably San Hermenegildo will be too.

As already stated by Jonas having the Santa Ana in the next wave was almost a certainty once we knew Ares was working with the Los Meregildos class. I'm looking forward to having the Santa Ana facing off against HMS Royal Sovereign. History may not repeat itself!
Thanks for posting this update.
Info like this is very useful, if one wishes to avoid painting up a ship which is probably going to figure in a release later on.I will steer clear of these most likely models then.
Rob.
I would recommend not painting up existing models as ships of coming releases. The model would be off.
It would be much better to do repaints within the class or sister classes.
Well, there's a *little* room for stretching.
SGN101 covers most 1770s-on French 32s, SGN102 can plausibly cover the two 1779 Annibals and maybe some of the other 1780s-era French 74s, SGN103 can represent a surprisingly broad array of British 32s, the Enterprise 28s and even some lighter 36's and a handful of 38s, SGN104 a handul each of French and British Large 74s and a half-dozen 64s, SGN105 most French 38-44-gun frigates from 1782 on and the British Leda and Lively classes, SGN106 the two Commerce de Paris 110s and SGN108 most British First and Second Rates from 1777 Duke on.
Trivial note, after Waves 3 and 4 we'll be about six sculpts away from completing the main Lines of Battle at Trafalgar. Granted, we'll need a metric buttload of reprints, but...
That is great information and what I meant with my vague "sister classes". There are several copies and some refinements that's a look alike.
There are another information from FB page:
"HMS Leopard - Portland class fourth rate, made famous by the adventures of Jack Aubrey in O'Brian's "Desolation Island" - was active in Egypt and in the Mauritius campaign, and she's a part of the next wave of Sails of Glory ships."

I'm pretty sure HMS Leander will be another name of the 50 gun ships. Also of Aubrey fame, apart from the "incidents" with the Americans that both these ships had.
Those sound like good choices.
I will take what I can get and be thankful.
Bligh.
Photos are nice and all, but where are the sculpts?! If all they're showing at this juncture are ship plans and paintings I'm even more skeptical that we'll see any new product for SoG before 2017. We're fast approaching the mid year mark and still no official production information either on the Ares website "Upcoming" section or here?
I'm happy to see something happening on Facebook, but practically speaking it's not really what I want to see. I know, some folks are never satisfied.
Very happy to have 'The Horrible Old Leopard' in the next wave.
Well, they DID show a pre-prod sample San Juan Nepomuceno... so we can assume the other three sculpts are around that far along.
Very glad you said that DB.
With all the remarks on the Anchorage, I was starting to wonder if i was just dreaming that I had actually seen anything.
My mind is starting to wander a bit in my dotage.
Bligh.
Either that or from a third of the globe apart we had the same hallucination, and since unlike almost all of my few living relatives I'm nowhere near ready for an Old Fogey's Home... :p LOL
