Bligh.
BBC News has shown a couple of pieces about Hermione.

The wife and I have gathered a group of our friends to be on hand to welcome the Hermione when she arrives to visit Yorktown in June.
There are already plans for a lot of activities as she makes her transit through Chesapeake Bay and up to the York River. She'll receive a welcome Salute from Ft. Monroe, as well as Naval Station Norfolk as she passes. It will be a once in a lifetime chance, and somewhat different from the usual Tall Ship visits we get around here to be sure!!
A good friend of ours, and a fellow wargamer who works in Colonial Williamsburg portrays both Napoleon and Lafayette! I think he will be participating in all the fun!
I can't wait for it to come to New York City. Because I live in Staten Island (NYC) and the ship has to pass my Island. I just have to keep an eye out for it.
Great project I heared about before.
I hope they have enough money and volunteers to keept this ship in a good condition.
Question is when HMS Victory will leave Portsmouth to intercept this frigate and wether USS Constitution will leave the US East Coats to join the battle.
Thank ou for those links, comrades. :salute:
There is no need to fear, Sven, HMS Victory is in dry dock undergoing conservation.
Thanks for posting Rob. Some day I might get to see one of those ships in person
So is USS Constitution
Here is the itinerary from the Herimone site:

Yeah, but Old Ironsides will someday feel water on her hull again--I'm not sure Victory *can* be put back to ready-for-sea.
Eileen and I would love to come over for the arrival of the Hermione. If we can arrange flights at this late juncture, and I can get the passports renewed in time we will make the trip.
Rob.
Who will hold up the model next to the replica and take a comparative photo?
I will if we can get over to the States in time.
Bligh.
You are correct, Diamondback. H.M.S. Victory is too precious ever to go to sea again, even if it could.
It is a shame the Constitution just went in for over haul, as it would be so great to see the two of them take a spin around Boston Harbor together!!
Passport photos done and ready for endorsing. Should get them off to the Passport Office by Monday.
I was thinking of wearing my 18th Century Clothes for the arrival.

Rob.
Great outfit!
I first thought it was for the passport, but those rules are tough nowadays.:smack:
Thanks Jonas.
Those breeches actually came from Jas Townsend in the States. Wig is a Barristers cast off, and the rest of the kit including her gown is made by Lady Bligh.
Good one about the passports. They seem to want the moon on a stick these days before you can get a renewal.
Rob.
You and the Misses would very much look the part on the wharf!!
Of course, if you travel in costume when asked for a passport you could just give them a quizzical look and ask; "What's this passport you ask of?"
Imagine the looks on their faces!!
Never make fun of anyone in US customs. There are people that have been forced to turn back for making a joke.
When visiting USA I went up to the customs and handed my passport over to a black woman over the counter. She asked the purpose of the visit so I said "To visit my mother." She looked in the passport and said "You haven't visited her in five years? That's no way to treat your mother." and she told me off. I didn't even dare to say that she had visited Sweden several times in between. I just agreed.
Great costumes, Rob and Eileen!
Well things have moved on a bit.
Just waiting for our visas, and all being well Mrs Bligh and I will be at Yorktown to welcome the Hermione in to port on the 6th.
Bligh.
I hope that your visas come through soon, Rob.
We'll keep an eye open for you and the Misses, Rob!! It should be a load of fun!!
Unfortunately we won't be in our 18th cent kit due to weight restrictions on the flight, but I will bring my Wings of Glory sweatshirt and cap.
Rob.
Wear the costume on flight. Sweatshirt & cap with your carry on:sly:
Very clever Gunner!
Yes! Very good.
Excepting, there is no way I'm spending upward of 10 hours from Heathrow, to Atlanta, and then on to Williamsburg, in a woolen Frock-coat, waistcoat, and linen under garments even for my art.
Bligh.
Rob, of course you're thinking your flights in the States will actually be on time!!
Will keep my eyes open for your Wings attire, and will happily walk up to introduce myself and the Misses!! Look forward to meeting you then!!
Not so worried about the planes being on time Paul, but that Hermione gets the trade winds and arrives on time.
Rob.
Judging from the map posted on their web site it looks like she'll be following the Southern route from the Azores towards the west Indies before taking the turn north towards the Chesapeake, so the winds this time of year should very much be in her favor!! Of course she's timed her arrival Stateside right at the beginning of hurricane season, so that should prove to be a challenge for the crew! Especially considering how the Bounty was lost last year during a storm!!
Yes, that was an unfortunate tragedy. All the warning signs were there well in advance, and those tall ships carry modern navigational and communication equipment. The Captain was flagrantly disregarding the warnings left and right, and being too headstrong (or foolish) refused to sail her into nearby port when the opportunity was there. Instead he figured on sailng around it by going further out, and ran headlong into the epicenter of the storm, with a greenhorn crew.
Sounds like a mutiny would have been preferable
